Bees

There’s a sign at this location indicating that this is a planned bee habitat. Bees are facing particular head winds in our area and their numbers are declining. So, a group took the time to find a space where bees would thrive. They augmented it with plants bees particularly like, so they could be their happiest and best bee selves.

I learned from a woman who studies bees that they communicate through their flight patterns. Apparently their flight dance indicates distance, direction and abundance of a pollen location. That’s amazing.

How sweet and lovely and inspiring that bees point their hive mates toward life-giving pollen with a dance and then come home and make honey. 🐝

Thinking about their bee dances makes me giggle. Do they line up for an electric bee slide? Do they, like our much loved pastor, Laurie, swing dance? Are some of them shy and explain that they have two left bee feet? Perhaps ballet is their thing, up on one little, but strong, bee toe, with wings expressively spread above their heads. I hope there’s a bee band walking down the street and some second-line dancing with little bee parasols. Maybe, like me, some dig the blues and they bend their knees and wiggle their bee backsides.
