The LGBTQ+ community might be the only group on the planet to look at a vivid, rainbow striped flag and think, “You know, what this flag needs is more colors! Let’s add some.”

While we’re at it, the design is a little repetitious: stripe after stripe after stripe. How predictable. Let’s do this: add four more colors in a chevron pattern, layered on top of the stripes. Choose colors which will more directly represent our trans brothers and sisters as well as those who are Black and Brown. That’s it! Much better!

Sometimes I think, “Oh, good grief, we’re already an alphabet soup of identity initials, how much more visibility is there left to expose?”

Except, that’s the point of this audaciously diverse group. We are dedicated to creating space for each other. Space that’s a shame-free, dress how you want, love who you want, be who you are zone.
